How We Fundraise

There are several types of fundraisers that we do each year.

1) Fundraisers that fund your student account

2) Fundraisers that fund your student account and the ABPA

3) Fundraisers that fund the ABPA’s account and go towards our budgeted expenses

4) Fundraisers that fund the general band account managed by Mr. O’Keefe and your student’s account

Wawa Hoagie Coupons

Currently we sell these all year round.  They are $5 each and entitle the bearer to a shorty of their choice.  $1 from each coupon you sell goes into your student’s account. Contact (name to be updated soon) to purchase coupons.

Ad Book/Program for Absegami Home Show (ABC)

We sell ad space to local businesses and families in the program for our home show.  A percentage of each ad your child sells goes into their student account, and the remaining amount goes into our general fundraising account. There are quite a few of these fundraisers.  Some are ongoing year round and some are special events.

 

Designer Handbag Bingo

Traditionally held in mid-November, this is our second largest fundraiser. In addition to playing Bingo with a chance to win one of many designer bags, there are raffles for numerous baskets, plus we run a 50/50 raffle . Volunteers are always needed to run check in, sell raffle tickets, and sell extra bingo boards before each game starts. Concession is staffed by our band members, with cakes and pastries donated by parents.  We are currently looking for someone to help run this event.  If you are interested, please contact any member of the Executive Board.

 

50/50

We have one mandatory fundraiser every year -- a "super 50/50."  Tickets will go on sale in late August and the winner will be drawn the same night at our Designer Handbag Bingo.  Last year's winner took home almost $4,500!  Each student is expected to sell one book of 10 tickets for $20 per ticket.  Once you sell your complete book, you are eligible to receive your tour shirt for this year’s show. 

 

Scrips Gift Cards

This is another great year-round fundraiser that raises money for the band with little to no effort.  You can purchase gift cards at face value for online and local chain stores and typically between 2-15% of the purchased amount goes directly to the band.  Many parents purchase Shop Rite, Amazon, Target, and CVS gift cards, for example, knowing they shop these stores all the time.  This is also a great fundraiser to sell friends and family, especially around the holidays.  Forms are available from (name to be updated soon), and orders get submitted on a regular basis.

 

Spirit Wear

We have a couple Spirit Wear sales every year.  We sell band jackets that most of the kids wear year-round and get embroidered with their name, class and section.  We also sell Absegami Marching Band shirts, sweats and other paraphernalia, as well as a seasonal shirt with the season’s theme, known as tour shirts.  This is a great way for you to support your child and the band in general.  (Name to be updated soon) is coordinating spirit wear this year.

 

Road Clean-ups

We usually participate in 2 road clean-ups per year. The fundraiser involves a group of parents and students who volunteer to clean up sections of local roadways, and can satisfy volunteer hours that students might need for various honor societies and college applications. Clean-ups are coordinated by Wendy Walsh. Her contact information is (609) 204-4218.

This last type of fundraiser is run by Mr. O’Keefe.  Information about these fundraisers will come directly from him and usually offer a larger amount for your student’s account.
