Why We Fundraise

The Absegami Band Parents Association supports the Absegami Band Program. Marching band involves expenses for additional instructors, props, equipment, and travel that are not covered by the school. Through our fundraising, we are able to cover these costs and keep the program running smoothly. Each year we raise approximately $30,000, and our budgeted expenses include:

-  Instructors' salaries

-  Show Music/Arrangement Fees

-  Guard Equipment

-  Props

-  Instrument Repairs

-  Tour Shirts for students

-  Band Activities (Food & Drinks for the kids)

-  Scholarships

-  Senior Banquet

-  Tractor & Truck Expenses

-  Liability Insurance

-  Tax Preparation

-  Various Miscellaneous Administrative Expenses, such as gaming licensing, post office box, check printing, etc.


Like many new parents with children in the marching band, it took us all some time to understand and appreciate all that the ABPA does. Once we all gained some experience, we knew we wanted to be involved. Without our fundraising and support, the band does not have instructors to assist Mr. O’Keefe, the music they play, or the props for the show. Without us, the show simply does not go on.
